Request for Scientific Study
I'd like to see a study done that would somehow measure academic and social "success" in children related to the number of contact hours these children have with their parents. I'd also like them to throw in some measurements about "quality" teachers in our schools. It's more than a hunch that tells me that we'd find that parent contact hours is the larger indicator of a child's success. This was the thought that came to mind this morning as I listened to the news and proposed legislation to focus on some other aspect of "No Child Left Behind." I have no argument with this initiative, but like many things, I feel there is a large portion of the population that errantly believe the government should provide services that will make a huge impact on how we live. This is one of those areas.
